【功用】：M42和M40几乎一模一样，唯一的不同就是外盔的边缘--M42的外盔没有滚边.多数的M42的外盔都没有标记，少量在1943年以前生产的，在头盔的一面有陆军，空军，或SS的标记。另外一侧没有标记。M42的油漆为深绿色或沙色(沙子的颜色)，选择这两种颜色主要是为了增强隐蔽力。对头盔进行保护及对单兵进行一个颜色的伪装。
